Welcome to this free lesson on how to read fiddle tablature.
Here at fiddlehub.com, I use fiddle tablature to present the tunes and to explain lots of concepts in both the tunes and the lessons. You'll find standard notation provided for all the tunes as well; but I think it's easier to get the bowings and other details if you can read the tablature. That's why I'm providing this lesson.
- If you're already familiar with tablature, great--You're ahead of the game.
- If not, don't worry--It's easy to learn. You can do it even if you've had no luck getting the hang of standard notation.
By the way, unless you are an experienced player, you should take the free lesson on left hand fingering before you take this tablature lesson.
- In my explanation of tablature, I assume you already know how to place your fingers accurately on the fingerboard in the first position.
- Even if you think you have the fingering down, it wouldn't hurt to take a quick look.
