Bowing:
- To play the first slur in this phrase, you need to change strings without changing bow direction. This can be a little tricky at first, but it's well worth the effort to get this technique in hand. If you want to play in the Irish tradition, you can't get along without it. A couple of the most basic bowings in that style absolutely require slurring across two strings.
Fingering:
- Keep the 3rd finger down on the A string while you bow the E string in the first slur.
